Community Involvement

At Abernethy Broatch Law we are actively involved in the local community.

This year we are again the major sponsors of the Bethlehem College Art Exhibition.  This is almost certainly the most comprehensive art exhibition in the Bay of Plenty and is now in its 15th year.

We also support Bikers Against Drunk Drivers and Habitat for Humanity in Tauranga and Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Features

Gift Duty:The Government has announced that it is reviewing the gift duty rules and is intending to repeal gift duty legislation, if issues relating to creditor protection and social assistance targeting can be addressed. This may mean, if passed, that gifting to trusts may dramatically increase if the current $27,000 threshold is abolished.

Intellectual Property: Under our Useful Information page see our new article focusing on trademarks, copyright, patents and confidential information. This is important information on protecting your businesses branding and intellectual property.  click here

****

Terms of Trade: We have had an increasing number of clients approaching us to assist them with collecting money from debtors. In working with them, we have found that some either have no terms of trade or ones that are out of date.  This usually means that they are unsecured and have little chance of claiming default interest or costs.

If you have doubts about the robustness of your terms of trade or want to know how to get security for your money please feel free to give us a call.

Trusts: Protecting your assets has always been important-now more than ever. See our article on Family Trusts here
